夜幕降临后,金中都公园旁的宣阳桥 transformed into a stage bathed in colorful lights. As classical music played, jets of water from the river formed elegant arcs under the glow of vibrant lighting. Passersby couldn't help but pull out their phones to capture this mesmerizing display of light and water. This newly unveiled musical fountain has quickly become a popular spot for nearby residents, showcasing West District's ongoing efforts to enhance urban landscape lighting and refine the city's night view.
West District has been dedicated to improving its nighttime environment, aligning with Beijing's overall development strategy and functional定位 as the capital's core area. With a focus on creating a balanced mix of modern vitality and historical charm, the district has systematically upgraded its landscape lighting. A recent project along the Xihai Ring Road involved updating the lighting for over 28 buildings spanning approximately 4 kilometers. The design emphasizes a harmonious blend of contemporary flair and traditional elegance.
To promote the concept of "integrated water and city development," West District has also carried out comprehensive lighting upgrades along the banks of the Xihai, Nanhai, Beihai, and Lianhua rivers, covering a total length of about 13.9 kilometers. This includes enhancing 22 bridges and 18 key scenic spots. The project adheres to principles of cultural preservation, ecological sustainability, resource efficiency, and reuse while striving for subtle, elegant lighting effects that avoid overwhelming visual impact.
Instead of simply adding more lights, the initiative aimed to address issues like fragmented and inconsistent nighttime lighting across buildings and public spaces. By harmonizing the lighting along the Xihai Ring Road and unifying the illumination styles of the three water systems, the project has created a cohesive and visually appealing night landscape that highlights both modern architecture and historical features.
Looking ahead, West District plans to continue its efforts in enhancing urban lighting, with future projects focusing on areas such as the Imperial City Axis, Shichahai Lake, Fuxing Gate Outer Road, and North Second Ring Road. These initiatives aim to further elevate Beijing's nighttime charm and create a more livable urban environment for residents and visitors alike.
